Overview

Sandhill Yarns was officially launched in June of 2025 with a big dream of making hand dyed yarn accessible to everyone. In order for that to work, a lot of pieces have to fall into place. One of which is to consistently sell all of our stock. So far we have! And the demand is growing.

As a result, this page serves as a public roadmap for how much yarn we are dyeing, and our estimated timeline for growth. 

August 17th Batch Stats

This last batch did not go to plan. We had so many people trying to checkout at the same time that the website stalled for ~20 minutes. The graph below shows our CPU usage at 100% for about 20 minutes. We’re working to fix that.

Month 1

In June 2025, Isabel launched Sandhill yarns from hobby to business. We were not sure what to expect, and didn’t know if we would could gain enough traction…we were pleasantly surprised!

Instagram was the first platform to take off, ending the month with over 1 million views and 10k followers. YouTube started to gain traction at the end of the month, ending with 250k views and 1500 subscribers.

The website gained ~12k visitors and 250 people joined our email list. Nearly all of our stock was sold out.

Month 2

The plan for July was to consistently sell 25 skeins / week and get 500 email subscribers. We far exceeded expectations with over 1000 people joining our mailing list!

For context, we were visiting family in Wyoming, so we pre-dyed 100 skeins and brought them with us to release a new batch each week. Our last batch in Wyoming sold out in 26 minutes!

So when we got back to Huntsville, it was time to dye. We tripled our batch size for the July 27th drop, and to our utter joy, that sold out in just 75 minutes!

July was such a fun month, filled with crazy excitement as orders flooded our inbox. We’re so encouraged by everyone’s support, and we are so happy we can serve you all.

August Roadmap

Month 3 - Prepare for Oven

The plan for August was to sell 50 skeins per week…but that has changed. Y’all love our yarn so much we’re planning to dye 100 skeins / week until we can afford an oven. This oven to be precise.

Until we get an oven, 100 / week is probably our cap. If certain weeks we can dye more, we will.

Our hope is to reach 2000 email subscribers by the end of the month.

Sept to Dec - Begin Advertising

The plan for September is to hit the big scale button. Once we have an oven, our batch sizes can increase dramatically.

We currently don’t have enough demand to support 500 skeins / week organically, so its time for us to learn how to run ads! 

Nick’s business will cover the initial costs of advertising so that Sandhill Yarns isn’t financially burdened.

Our goal is to learn how to advertise and how to efficiently run 500 skeins / week. There will be some bumps and fumbles, so this month is a “learn the ropes” for what a bit of scale might look like.
